I bought this drive over a year ago and have to report that it has never failed me. I have plugged it into virtually every kind of computer out there and it has always allowed me to connect and transfer files. Quite plainly, I love it. It's big enough to be able to accomodate a single layer DVD into it but not quite big enough to accomodate a big dual layer DVD on it so can't quite transfer dual layer ISO files but for smaller files, it's perfect. I'm thinking of getting a 32GB version so that I can carry complete ISO images of DVDs but I'm going to keep this 4GB in my bag as a means of moving files quickly and easily. Of note, thumb drives in general are a security risk so be careful what you store on it. I keep this 4GB file entirely empty and hand it out whenever I need someone to give me some files (if you keep your budget or salary tables on your thumb drive, whomever you loan your thumb drive to can easily copy your files to their machine) --- for this reason, thumb drives are outlawed in some organizations. However, I think their usability outstripps their risks. At these prices, there's no reason you shouldn't have one of these 4GB nice titanium drives. It comes with U3 software which helps you eject the drive from computers that are not plug and play. It's also tiny and has a little hole for a keyring or for a neckline. I can't say enough nice things about this little piece of hardware. On this drive, it comes with a metal case and a retractable USB plug - it works great. It's not waterproof but it's very sturdy so defintely can be thrown into a computer bag.

had this bad boy for about a year, after damaging and losing data on a Kingston drive (loved it, but rubber can't take even one kick) and many other plastic drives. I love this thing. the retractable USB really sold me on this unit, as caps are easy to lose. also, like I said, it can withstand quite a bit of punishment. As a stage technician, I tend to bump into things a whole lot, and many times this thing has taken a lot of dropping and stepping on. invest in 8 gigs, though. the more the merrier!

If you are planning on having a flash drive on a keychain that get's tossed around all the time, then this product is for you. Compared to the plastic ones I have had in the past, this is much more sturdy. It looks great too. I am very happy with the build quality.
WGH Said: Does What I Wanted and a Pleasant Surprise ( Jun. 22nd 2009 )
I purchased three SanDisk 4 GB Cruser USB Micros with U3 in Fall, 2008 solely for data storage (extra backup and transport). Based on reviews I had read, I expected to have to go to SanDisk's website to figure out how to remove the U3. As a result, I put off using the Crusers until now (June 2009). When I plugged the first one in to my XP equipped desktop computer, a message came up inviting me to either launch or delete the U3. It also advised that I could reinstate the U3 whenever I wished, using a small executable that remained on the drive. The delete process took only a few seconds and, subsequently I was able to store close to 4 GB of various files in about 15-20 minutes. The process went smoothly and a few tests of "recoveries" were uneventful. Repetition of this same process for the other two drives also went smoothly. In short, I have three very satisfactory data storage devices, easily configured to avoid the bells and whistles, but easily reconfigurable in case I want to use features such as the password protection.
